When i recently bought an outboard motor, i needed a stand to keep it on while i finish building my glen-l boat. i found a few good tutorials online for building your own stand. however, i wanted my stand to have the same 12 degree transom angle that is common to many glen-l outboard boat designs.. Re: building an o/b motor stand - instructional so, i did something similar a couple of years back, and here's my design suggestions if you ever want to do a rev 2.0. with those diagonal supports arranged like you have them, it's impossible to remove a tilt-pin, and just as hard to access the t&t manual release valve.. Whether you use it for storage, or a way to swap out one outboard for another, an outboard motor stand consists of two assemblies. one is a framework topped with a board – an engine support rail -- approximately the thickness of your boat’s transom, to hold the motor..
Re: outboard motor stand plans with those small motors, you can use a simple sawhorse. put a cross piece of wood between the legs of the 'horse, to hold the gearcase vertical, if necessary.. My most essential tool for working on my outboard motor is its stand. without it, maintaining my 80+ pound, 8 hp yamaha 4-stroke would be like a wrestling match. you don't want to store an outboard motor lying on a floor or workbench in your garage when it isn't on the boat, especially all winter..
